Summary
Sun Yat Sen was the leader of the Koumintang. He had a large problem trying to get foreign aid because they were a socialist group. The USSR was the only group that would really help them. He wanted to create a socialist democracy, but the country was run by warlords. Chiang Kai-Shek was the leader of the Koumintang in 1925, after Sun Yat Sen died. They were communist, and Mao Zedong was the leader of their propaganda. They soon controlled all of China south of the Yangtze River. Chiang decided to rid his party of communists, killing many of them while others like Mao fled to remote parts of China.
