Summary
NATO, and the Warsaw pact, were rival organizations created, to try and bring democratic countries together, and communist countries together. NATO was created in reaction to the Berlin blockade, and its headquarters was in Brussels. an attack by Russia was seen as an attack on this entire group, and they protected each other. The Warsaw pact was similar, as it was a treaty of cooperation friendship, and mutual assistance. it was in reaction to a re-militarized West Germany joining NATO. The Warsaw pact dissolved in 1991 after the fall of the Soviet Union.
