War Reparations
Notes
- not about the dollar figure($55,000,000,000)
- number was so high it could never be paid
- did that intentionally, wanted them to be bankrupt forever so they could never rise again
- got so bad they couldn't even pay interest
- mostly France collecting, GB collected a bit
Summary
The war reparations were designed to completely cripple Germany, so they could never rise again. The number was so ridiculously high, that it would have been impossible for them to pay it all off. France was the main collector, but Great Britain also had some share.
Quote
The First World War will officially end on Sunday, 92 years after the guns fell silent, when Germany pays off the last chunk of reparations imposed on it by the Allies.
