Summary
Japan was in great need for supplies after the Americans declared war. The invasion of Manchuria began this process earlier, in 1937, but when the attacks happened, they needed it more than ever. They wanted Coal, Rubber, and Iron from the Dutch East Indies, and they captured Taiwan, the Philippines, mainland China, Indo-China, and The Solomon Islands. The Americans boycott oil to Japan in 1941.
