Summary
The fighting in North Africa was sparked because of the Suez Canal, and the oil in the Middle east. Bernard Montgomery and his desert rats troops fought against Rommel and his Africa Corps. They defeated the Germans strongest troops, and protected the Canal and the oil from the Germans. the Americans also joined in 1942, under Dwight D. Eisenhower.
