Henry Stimson reacted to the Japanese actions in Manchuria, and came up with a doctrine to fix things. He would not allow for territorial changes in China, and took actions to prevent it. It comes under the US Sphere of influence, as they were trying to be the superpower in the world. This doctrine was a reason why Japan walked out of the league of nations.
