Summary
June 3rd and 4th, 1989, there was a very large political protest in Tienanmen Square in China. Democratic movements had grown in strength since the arrival of Deng, and on may 4th, mass rallies were held in honour of the 70th anniversary of the last major Democratic uprising. Many students stayed, and began a hunger strike. Li Peng took harsh measures and ordered the PLA to take whatever action necessary to get rid of the protesters. The army arrived in Early June, and they were very unsure and reluctant to do anything with the crowd. Many people were killed by the military during these two days.
