The Americans did many things in the 1950's to try and stop Communism in Europe. The Main implementation the Americans had was the Truman Doctrine. It came into play when the British pulled out of Greece, and it was designed to prevent countries from turning communist. The Americans would give money to countries, in order for them to not turn Communist. They started by giving $400 Million to Turkey and Greece. This tied in with the Marshall plan, which was also a contributor to the anti communism efforts. This plan was to give money to countries to help rebuild them, and in turn assure that they would turn Democratic and not Communist. 16 different countries applied for aid,,and the Americans helped drastically.
