The February/March revolution and the October/November revolution were two different Russian revolutions in the year of 1917. The main difference between the two revolutions was that one was designed to abdicate the Tsar, and the second one was an attempt to get rid of the Bolsheviks. The first revolution started with riots in Petrograd, and it aimed to replace the Tsar with a provisional Government. The second one was a bloodless standoff between the Bolsheviks and the Kornilov. The main reason that the first revolution was a failure and the second one succeeded was because there was too much of a power struggle after the first one. When the diarchy was formed after the first one, it led to to much of a power struggle, and both rulers also wanted to keep Russia in WWI. In the second revolution they were very successful because they chose to be bloodless, and they used a group system of government rather than a single power. The revolutions of Feb/Mar, and Oct/Nov, of 1917 were two very different things that just happened to be in the same year. the second was more successful because it appealed to the people much more.
